What this course gives you, your business and your leaders…

Skills that help them in their roles reduce downtime, increase efficiency, retain site skills and necessary personnel, and reduce/save costs and waste across your sites and processes.

This programme, Leadership from the Ground Up, is designed for construction SME leaders, site managers, and emerging leaders to strengthen their ability to deliver safe, efficient, and sustainable projects. It combines practical leadership skills with real-world construction challenges, supporting alignment with Ireland’s Climate Action Plan and Housing for All. The focus is on building strong site culture alongside operational performance, recognising that successful projects rely on both technical expertise and effective leadership.

Delivered across four focused modules to minimise time away from site, the programme is highly practical and applied. Participants will work on live projects to carry out safety and communication audits, identify efficiency improvements, and strengthen team engagement and retention. The outcome is a clear, actionable plan that supports better project delivery, stronger teams, and long-term leadership development within the organisation. Read more below.

The programme integrates

  • Leadership capability
  • Operational Efficiency, and
  • Workforce Sustainability,

And recognises that sustainable construction requires both technical practices and strong organisational culture.

Participants will apply learning directly to live projects within their organisation, ensuring practical impact and measurable improvements in safety, efficiency, workforce engagement, and leadership development.

This programme is delivered in four focused modules, designed to minimise time away from any physical working site while ensuring, enabling and maximising learning and immediate impact.

The aim is to empower and encourage leaders to be strategic, resilient and adaptive in driving sustainable transformation.

Participants will conduct a Safety & Voice Audit on a live project within their organisation, identifying:

  • Current safety communication practices
  • Barriers preventing workers from speaking up
  • Opportunities to strengthen leadership behaviours that reinforce safety culture

Participants will conduct an Efficiency Leak Assessment on a current project to identify opportunities to improve:

  • Material efficiency
  • Energy use
  • Time management and workflow
  • Knowledge transfer across teams

Participants will develop a practical action plan to eliminate or reduce these inefficiencies.

Participants will conduct Stay Interviews with members of their team to understand:

  • What motivates employees to stay?
  • What challenges do they face?
  • What improvements could increase engagement and retention?

Participants will use insights from these interviews to design a team engagement improvement plan.

Participants will develop a Leadership Development Plan for themselves and their organisation or that in which they work, including:

  • Identification of potential future leaders
  • Career pathway mapping
  • Opportunities for learning and development
